This is one of those models that I have been commissioned recently to build for a client in California. This is the 1/48 scale Galactic Shuttle by SMT Models. This is a BIG girl in 1/48 scale and I am progressing right along on the build. As I complete steps along the way I will take more photos so you folks out there can see how things are going.
As most of you out there may know, I not only illustrate books, video covers and do box art for several model companies I also build models on commission for clients all over the world. I am dedicating this page to that facet of my business so others may see what type of models various people like to have built for them. (People are always asking me what are you building and for whom.) Since a few of my clients are in the entertainment business and in other high profile careers I will not be divulging names out of respect for their privacy. This is a new page so a lot of the work I have done up to this point will not be featured as I did not take photos before shipping.
Well here are some in progress photos finally! I have had a lot of you wanting me to post some updates on this build so here ya go! I am sorry it has taken this long but I have gone past my finish deadline for my customer but thankfully he was not in a rush. But I did want to get it finished for him and have been concentrating on getting this girl done.
I fully underestimated this model as far as getting this thing together and cleaning up the parts. The actual building was not bad but claening up this large resin kit was a nightmare. The model faithfully represents the Galactica shuttle and if you would like a large representation the shuttle, this is the one but you will have A LOT OF CLEANING UP TO DO! The resin on this kit was FULL of trash and I came across a lot of under surface bubbles that had to be sanded then puttied to get a smooth finish. I am still finding little things that have to be sanded or scraped. I will be posting a full review once I have completed the model so keep checking back for further details!
